It is a marvelous Monday at On My Kindle! How was last week for you? Last week found me struggling to get back on track with the blog, even though I was able to "find my groove" the week after my vacation.

Last week I encountered a couple of emotional triggers. The techniques that a friend gave me to lessen the emotional impact of the triggers helped, but sometimes the situation does not allow me to take the time to calm myself. Preventing myself from those situations with an outburst of violent anger drains me, and it takes some time to recover emotionally and physically.

During my recovery, I discovered that taking walks and gaming seem to help break my mind out of the cycle of emotionally re-hashing the past. Engaging in these activities also help me to become a better reader because I can focus more on what I am reading. Do not get me wrong... I always read the books that I review; I just find it difficult to focus on what I am reading after an emotionally-charged situation.

Gaming Wishlist

Since I have started gaming again, I decided to take a look at the Steam store to see what I have missed and watch game trailers:

I found out that Civilization VI is set to be released just in time for my birthday. I love Civilization V and am working diligently to play all of the leaders in the base game and expansions.

A couple of my favorite games in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, have been remastered and are available for PC gaming. The graphics in those games were awesome before they were remastered, but they look gorgeous now.

While I was at it, I watched a couple of trailers for The Witcher 3, and was blown away. I also noticed that the game has full controller support on Steam, so I am anxious to get the game and give the Steam controller a whirl.

I also read both books on last week's TBR list read, and I will share the reviews for those books this week.

To be Reviewed

I was really surprised by Layden Robinson's book, Chameleon. It really blew my mind! Collective Mind by Vasily Klyukin is a pretty good debut for a new author. The book has some strengths and weaknesses, and I am anxious to give my two cents about it.

To be Read

I already have a head start on this week's "to-be-read" list, so I might be able to sneak a third book in; you will just have to wait until next week to see!

The blurb for Resilience (Resiliency Book 2) on Goodreads indicates that it is a thriller/mystery:
Johanna’s custody battles are over or…the least of her problems. Louis—her ex-husband—is dead, his girlfriend is missing, and Johanna is the prime suspect.

The detective working the case is not even looking for another suspect. Johanna’s only chance is to hire a highly skilled attorney, and the best she knows is a man from her past, who likely despises her.

Will he set aside his contempt to defend her? And if she didn’t kill Louis, who did?
Like I mentioned earlier, I am already reading this book and I am curious to see how this story unfolds.

The second book that I am reading this week is Random Man by Layden Robinson.

The blurb on Goodreads describes this book as:
7 colorful tales driven by graphic intensity, horror, erotica and dark fantasy.
I know, I know; it says "erotica," which is a genre I do not normally read. However, I decided to give it a chance since the description implies that erotica is not the main premise of the book. If Random Man is of the same caliber as Chameleon, I will not regret reading this book.

Instead of asking you what you are reading, or writing this week; I am going to ask, "what do you do when you are not reading, or writing?" Do you walk, workout, do some yoga, cook, or engage in another hobby that inspires you? Let me know in comments.

Have a marvelous Monday!
