Review

The first thing I noticed on the .mobi version of the book was how interactive it was. When you swipe as if you are turning the page, a text element of the page is enlarged. Consequent swipes will enlarge other text elements in the book until each all text on the page has "popped up," and you are advanced to the next page; even the emoticons and notifications on the illustrated devices were enlarged. This feature reminded me of the "pop-up" books that youngsters favor, and I was glad to see that the author implemented this feature in her book.

The premise of the story is relevant to today's babies as it points out how social media can impact a little one's life. I thought that discussing it from a baby's point of view was brilliant, and it is a very sweet story. The illustrations are colorful and engaging; perfect for little ones to look at.

I see this book as a way to keep toddlers entertained for a bit as they might enjoy "swiping" the screen to make the text pop-up. Even a casual, uncoordinated swipe seems to activate this feature; parents do not need to worry about having a frustrated toddler on their hands because the book is not "working" for her/him.

#BabyLove: My Social Life has all the right elements; it is interactive and engaging for little ones, and the story line is humorous and interesting enough for adults to want to read it to their children.
