Veronica and her best friend and business partner Elizabeth work long hard hours preparing to open a high class art and gift shop in the English Lake District. With the work completed, they decide to take a short break before the grand opening, and they go to a beautiful country hotel for a few days to chill out. They befriend a young Australian waitress, who has a bubbly fun filled personality. When a huge old American Cadillac drives into the parking lot, a competition between the three of them ensues as to what the handsome driver does for a living, and who is going to win his heart!

Great fun, and exciting adventures follow, but who indeed will win the heart of the tall handsome stranger?

Veronica and her best friend and business partner, Elizabeth, have worked long and hard to open a gift shop in the English Lake District. With the work finally completed, the two decide to celebrate by spending some time at a country hotel. During their visit, they befriend a friendly and outgoing waitress from Australia, Cindy.

When the trio spot an old Cadillac driving into the parking lot, they decide to see which one of them can capture the handsome driver's heart.

Which one of them will pique the handsome driver's interest? Cindy, the cheeky and personable waitress; Elizabeth, Veronica's outgoing best friend; or plain and proper Veronica?

We are Going to a Wedding is a witty read that is filled with romance, dry humor, and drama. The plot follows the three ladies on a rather fantastical journey as they discover more about the Cadillac and its handsome driver, mind the gift shop, find love, and meet royalty.

Higgins focused most of his writing energy on developing the characters rather than the setting. Each of the three ladies has distinct personalities that allow readers to find a kindred spirit in one of them. Most of the story takes place in Veronica's and Elizabeth's shop and in the Lake District where the shop sits; however, the gals manage to find all sorts of adventure on their doorstep as they vie for the handsome driver's attention.

I would like to say that I enjoyed the story immensely, but there is a fly in the proverbial honey. Readers will encounter pages of external and internal dialogue that is occasionally broken up with detailed descriptions of mundane tasks; making what should have been a light and enjoyable read tedious.

We are Going to a Wedding has all of the makings of a great romantic comedy: quirky characters, fascinating love interests, witty dialogue, and humorous adventures. However, romantic comedy readers who are looking for a light and easy read may grow weary of the lengthy dialogue and the overwrought descriptions of day-to-day tasks.

Rating: 3/5 - Romantic comedy readers are looking for lighthearted reads with a plot that moves forward at a fairly decent pace. While the premise and characters are unique, the plot is slowed down with tons of dialogue and too much time is spent discussing mundane tasks, or "telling rather than showing."
