Marvelous Monday

Monday, May 29, 2017

I hope you had a marvelous Memorial Day weekend. Since I have Fridays off and got today off for the holiday, I've been enjoying a hard-earned four day weekend!

As tempting as it was to lounge around and watch Memorial Day marathons on cable, I put my time to good use writing and reading instead. I also think that I perfected the "refrigerator cookie" rice and peanut butter treats that I hide Lexi's Benadryl with, even though Uncle Mike puts the plain pill in the bowl and she eats it willingly; however, she won't if I'm around. Since I know a lot of you have pups too, here's the recipe I use:

1/8 - 1/4 cup dry baby rice cereal
1-2 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. natural peanut butter (no sugar or salt added)
1/2 tsp. honey
(optional) 1/2 tsp. baby food (pumpkin, sweet potato, banana & apple)

In a small bowl, whisk the peanut butter and water together until well blended, add honey and/or flavored baby food until incorporated.

Add rice cereal in small increments and knead until mixture is still soft and smooth, but not too firm or sticky (a little softer than PlayDough). Roll mixture into a ball, place in a container and refrigerate. If the mixture crumbles when you pinch it, you have too much rice cereal in it. Add a little water and knead until smooth.

Grab a pinch from the container, stick a pill in the middle, roll into a small ball, and feed to your pup as a yummy treat!

Currently Reading

As I mentioned before, I spent most of my Memorial Day weekend reading. I finally finished reading The Prophecy by Petra Landon and I'll be sharing that book with you later on this week. However, I've had to adjust my queue since I promised a few authors reviews by their books' release dates.

A Promise Remembered, Erin S. Riley, currently reading, On My Kindle Book Reviews
Two souls entangled in an eternal echo of true love . . .

Rowan and James have been drawn together in every existence since the beginning of time. But love's sweet promise is cut short after an unthinkable tragedy strikes two young families, shattering the bond in this lifetime.

Is love stronger than death? Can Rowan and James find another way to each other? Against all odds, a forgotten promise is remembered and kept, reuniting two souls destined to be together.
A Promise Remembered is set for release on June 14, but it is available for preorder on Amazon now.

TBR, Last Rites, Lily Luchesi, On My Kindle Book Reviews
Power is the deadliest desire.

With Leander put to rest and the Paranormal Investigative Division taken care of by the Coven Mistress, Danny and Angelica are finally ready to take some time for themselves while Angelica gets used to her new role as the Empress and they make their relationship official. When people close to Angelica are murdered by what seems to be a rogue vampire, their sabbatical is cut short in order for her to find the perp and execute him or her. But this is no ordinary vampire. When the truth is revealed and secrets come to light, it will prove to be Danny's biggest test of faith yet, and Angelica's reckoning of her past, present, and future.

Most of all it will raise a single question: just what makes a monster?
Keep an eye on the blog this week on June 1st because I'm participating in this book's cover reveal!

Kingdom of Darkness, Tricia Copeland, Kingdom Journals, TBR, On My Kindle Book Reviews

“… the previous night’s vision, or whatever it was, ended with a name I heard clear as day, as if the people were in my room. Ivy, the girl and boy recited together.” – Camille

Could her dreams be real? Is she the key to freeing witches from their curse? Of course not, right? Thinking that her only chance at a normal life lay in a new treatment, Camille joins Dr. Antos and a group of teens for a month long camping trip in Iceland. There she meets Jude, a fellow schizophrenic. Dr. Antos invites Camille and Jude to extend their work with him on the island of Sardinia. Camille is suspicious of Dr. Antos’s intentions but her dad goes missing, leaving her no choice but to travel to Italy. Is she walking into a lion’s den or has her illness invaded her reality?
I participated in the cover reveal for this book last week and it is also available for preorder on Amazon.

What did you do over the Memorial Day weekend? Did you read? Binge-watch marathons on cable? Go to the lake? Let me know in the comments.

Have a marvelous Monday and a super week!
