Marvelous Monday, Currently Reading, TBR, On My Kindle Book Reviews

In last week's Marvelous Monday post, I talked about visiting staffing agencies to find a part-time job in housekeeping or office cleaning. After interviewing at a local staffing agency, I was assigned to a three-day housekeeping gig and the housekeeping manager at the hotel I was assigned at asked me if I was willing to make the assignment ongoing.

I accepted her offer! I'll work two to four days a week and I will generally work around six hours a day. I have set my schedule to work two days, have two days off, work another two days, and have one day off; perfect for someone like me who needs time to rest and recharge after dealing with humanity.

The only downside I've seen thus far is I will need to work on my upper body and leg strength to avoid back strain. Those mattresses are heavier than they look, even more so after repeatedly lifting the corners to tuck in sheets and duvets.

By the way: if you are physically challenged and plan on buying a duvet and duvet cover, don't do it because getting a duvet cover back on is tough! Also, if you are staying more than one night, leave a tip if your housekeeper did an awesome job of cleaning your room during your stay. It's appreciated and it helps to brighten our day.

Okay, enough about the housekeeping gig. Here's what I'm currently reading:

Ines' Words, Haidji, Currently Reading, On My Kindle Book Reviews
The love story between Ines de Castro and King D Pedro I is one of the most tragic, intense and powerful in European history. Their story has become a legend and it is difficult to separate fact from fiction, where the only certainty that remains is the element of forbidden, but everlasting, love. With her latest work, Ines’ Words, Haidji brings her unique and magical style to this subject and shows not only the enduring power of the legend, but of love itself.

‘Romance, Magic, Action…Illusional Reality has it all.’ Emily Woodmansee

Nobody expects to stare death in the face only to find out your entire life is a lie. Rescued by Salco, marketing executive Becky finds herself in an unknown magical world filed with happy people that try to forget their land is on the brink of destruction.

Becky will soon learn that her arrival is no accident. If learning that she is Thya, the heir of the enchanting land isn’t enough, she’s then told that an Oracle prophesied that she will save the gentle Tsinians from slavery and domination by Darthorn, the Warlord of Senx.

It is at a festival where she is introduced to the Tsinian council and her kinsmen, that she learns the whole truth. The council are so certain that a union between Darthorn’s son, Kovon and Thya will create peace between the two lands. However, Darthorn has plans for Tsinia as does Kovon for Thya and neither are good.

Although her future has been planned and if she is to save Tsinia she must marry Kovon, Thya gives her heart to another. A love that is forbidden and dangerous.

Illusional Reality is a story about hope, courage, love and sacrifice.

‘This story is unique. No typical fantasy stereotyping.’

A couple of weeks ago, I asked for some feedback on what type of post I should write for my third post of the week:
  1. "Flashback Friday" type posts
  2. "Featured Title" posts
  3. Both options; with "Flashback Friday" type posts on Saturdays when the "Featured Title" queue is empty.
So far, the majority of followers are leaning towards the third option. I will keep the polls open for another week and announce the results next Monday. If you want to vote, you can comment on this post or cast your vote on Facebook.

For the pet owners out there with pets, check out my playlist. I have a long bossa nova video and a shorter happy instrumental video that seems to keep Lexi calm while the people in our neighborhood are shooting off fireworks. Since I have the YouTube app on my phone and a portable speaker, I can crank up the volume and place the setup near her. It seems to be working, so I thought I'd share it with you.

Have a marvelous Monday, a safe Fourth of July, and an excellent week!
