What if you could ‘slip’ into the dreams of a killer? This family of PIs can. They use their psychic dream ability to solve crimes, and that isn’t easy. Especially when your client thinks she knows who the killer is, but you don’t believe her. Did Nina Howell really fall under the spell of a domineering, conservative talk show host? The case brings powerful new developments in Cat’s dreamslipping skill as she works to find the answer.

“I found myself completely submerged in this story of intrigue.”

Up-and-coming architect Nina Howell and her wife Robin have always been a study in contrasts, and the foundation of their marriage had begun to show cracks. But when Nina’s found dead in a room in the very hotel she designed, Robin points the finger at Seattle’s iconoclast politico, Sam Waters. As Robin’s clients, Cat and Amazing Grace must find out if the two seeming strangers had any connection at all outside of Robin’s suspicions. Is this just grief talking, or is it denial? Maybe Nina and Sam were having an affair, which would spread the motive around…

“…A total whodunit mystery that will keep you on edge until the very end!”

Meanwhile, all three Dreamslippers wade into the murky waters of Seattle’s dating scene. Will Cat move to San Francisco to be with Jacob, or will her rekindled connection with Greg give her reason to stay in Seattle? Can Mick finally forge a meaningful relationship, despite his damaged reputation and the complications of dreamslipping? When a surprise accident leaves Grace hospitalized, is romance still possible?

“I loved following along as they had to dig deep to find the killer.”

When Robin's wife, Nina, is found dead, Robin points the finger at Sam Waters, a local radio talk show host, and hires Grace and Cat to prove his guilt. Cat, a fan of Sam's, is skeptical of Robin's accusations and decides to prove his innocence. However, their investigations reveal Nina's troubled past and they discover an underground world where fantasy and reality co-mingle.

Strap yourself in, hold on, and enjoy the ride because this book is going to blow you away!

There's a lot of self-discovery going on in this book: Cat is still figuring out her considerable dreamslipping skills and is trying to decide if she wants to move to San Francisco to pursue a relationship with Jacob, Grace and Mick are diving into Seattle's dating scene, and the current case leads Grace and Cat into an underground sub-culture of Seattle's social life.

While some people may be uncomfortable discussing or reading about kink, I thought it was unexpected and unique. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative about the turns of events that took place in the underground world that Grace and Cat found themselves in; some of the dialogue and situations that the dreamslipping duo encounter are quite humorous.

All of this merely scratches the surface of the subplots going on in this book, and I have yet to really discuss the mystery aspect of the book.

Let's talk about the mystery; because this is a mystery, after all. To say it is complex is like saying that the Great Wall of China is a big wall. The clues to solve the mystery start coming together near the end, but they are so subtle that even I missed them. Yeah, you read that right; I have read dozens of mystery books, reviewed a few of them, and even my best guess was wrong. Brunette did an amazing job of ensuring that her readers will be guessing until the very end!

Bound to the Truth is a tantalizing, surprising, and mind-bending mystery with larger-than-life personalities who are outstandingly down-to-earth. I loved every quirky adventure that Grace and Cat found themselves in, and I am dying to read more!

About Lisa Brunette

Lisa Brunette, author. Reprinted with permission.
Lisa was born in Santa Rosa, California, but that was only home for a year. A so-called "military brat," she lived in nine different houses and attended nine different schools by the time she was 14. Through all of the moves, her one constant was books. She read everything, from the entire Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden mystery series to her mother's books by Daphne du Maurier and Taylor Caldwell.

A widely published author, game writer, and journalist, Lisa has interviewed homeless women, the designer of the Batmobile, and a sex expert, to name just a few colorful characters. This experience, not to mention her own large, quirky family, led her to create some truly memorable characters in her Dreamslippers Series and other works, whether books or games.

Always a vivid dreamer, not to mention a wannabe psychic, Lisa feels perfectly at home slipping into suspects’ dreams, at least in her imagination. Her husband isn’t so sure she can’t pick up his dreams in real life, though.

With a hefty list of awards and publications to her name, Lisa now lives in a small town in Washington State, but who knows how long that will last…
