Marvelous Mondays with Lexi

Marvelous Monday, Lexi, TBR, currently reading

It's a new year! Rather than reflecting on the past this year and making resolutions, I'm looking forward to a fresh start this year.

With a new manager taking over at work, getting consistent treatment for PTSD, and having a lawyer who is willing to take on my appeal for disability; I'm anxious to move on to a new chapter of my life. To make my new start even sweeter, next month will mark one year since Kyle and I were separated. I've come a long way since last year: I'm taking better care of myself, I've found an employer who is willing to work with my quirky schedule, and I think I'm getting the hang of balancing blogging, work, life, and self-care!

Speaking of care, Lexi's vet suggested I start giving her glucosamine supplements to help her joints. The brand he sells and recommended cost $80, leaving me to think that if I had $80 laying around I could afford to have her rear leg x-rayed. Rather than offering me an alternative, he left me to look around for a less pricey supplement. I found one that has received excellent reviews and costs around $20 for a 3-month supply (4-months once she starts receiving the "maintenance" dosing after 4 to 6 weeks). It smells like a mild catfish bait but, judging from the "Mommy, can I have more?" look in the picture above, she seems to like it a lot.

Demitra Hecataki is a spirited street magician from Greece who longs to escape her boring life. Victor Garnett is a popular English schoolboy with a cocky attitude and an unusual secret. When both suddenly come into the possession of mysterious crystals, it sets in motion a chain of events that are far beyond their control.

Thrust into an unknown world, the teens will soon find themselves in the midst of an adventure worthy of the old myths. Magic and advanced science thrive in this strange land, and supernaturally-gifted individuals are as common as dragons or flying horses. However, little do Demi and Victor know that just as the legendary heroes of this otherworld once boasted extraordinary abilities on Earth, so do the Earthborn here.

Lovelock Ones

Jema and Troy mange semi-normal lives at the Port Orford Naval Base despite global warming and mandatory genetic typing. With the threat of a second worldwide flu epidemic, their parents send them to a remote desert community. Jema’s sister contracts the virus, and Jema and Troy must decide whether to compromise the group to save one. Can Lovelock develop a cure in time to avoid mass casualty? As the political stage shifts, who can be trusted?
Lovelock Ones is currently available in paperback, but it is being released on eBook this month. I'm going to feature it on the blog when it is released and also post a review for it on its release day, January 25!

I know most book bloggers are reflecting on the books they've read last year and compiling lists of their favorites. I'm not going to do that because I read a lot of great books last year and you know which ones I enjoyed, and which ones I didn't.

Instead, to start your new year off right, I have a free eBook to share with you. It's Beyond The Milky Way by Aithal and I reviewed it just over two years ago in 2015.
