Marvelous Monday with Lexi!

Marvelous Monday with Lexi: June 25th edition

I've decided to try out for the next season of "America's Next Top Model" and I plan on adding this photo to my portfolio. I'm hoping that Tyra will be impressed by my "fierce" side.

I'm just kidding! Mommy gave me a treat for sitting still for the first photo she took of me and captured this shot while I was still chewing on the treat. For some strange reason, she thought it was cute and decided to share it with everyone.

I've been a bit naughty this week as Mommy worked 34 hours this week, and Uncle Mike had to feed me dinner while she was at work. Uncle Mike's cool and all, but he isn't Mommy and I'm still not sure if I'm okay with eating for him. To make matters worse, it rained yesterday and people were setting off fireworks last night. I hate getting wet and I absolutely hate fireworks. I refused to potty when he took me outside and then piddled on the living room floor.

Mommy says she doesn't think I'm being naughty; between dealing with Mommy's new schedule and the fireworks, she says I'm overwhelmed. She says that some of my "naughty" behavior is actually an emotional reaction to external stimuli. Mommy's pretty cool about stuff like this. Instead of getting upset with me, she looks for the underlying cause of the behavior. Her philosophy is that I've been taught not to widdle on the floor so when I do widdle on the floor, she tries to determine why I reverted.

Mommy had to delete her personal Facebook profile because she had a business page along with an ad account that wasn't hers. Fortunately, she figured out how to create a new Facebook profile and transferred ownership of On My Kindle's Facebook page to her new profile before she deleted her old profile. After creating her new Facebook profile, she remembered that she had blocked her ex-husband and her family on her old profile. When she went to her ex-husband's profile to block it, she discovered that he'd moved out of town. Mommy's feelings are mixed about this discovery. She is relieved that she doesn't have to worry about any awkward run-ins with him when she's working, but she is a little envious. She's envious because she wishes that she could just pick up and move away to start fresh, without having to deal with the random memories whenever she goes to certain places. She's also sad because the marriage means something to her and it ended.

My thoughts on it are, "Good riddance!" I was happy to move out with Mommy because now I don't have to listen to loud fights while Mommy was being called bad names and stuff was being thrown around. Even though I give Uncle Mike a hard time, I like hanging out with him while Mommy is at work. He pays attention to me and gives me treats, and he doesn't get angry at me when I make a mistake. I feel safe enough to act like the little princess that I am!

Before I let you know what Mommy's reading this week, she wanted me to tell you that she will not publish posts next week because she agreed to work 40 hours for the week of July 4th.

Currently Reading

The compulsively readable, behind-the-scenes memoir that takes readers inside the Obama White House, through the eyes of a young staffer learning the ropes, falling in love, and finding her place in the world.

In 2012, Beck Dorey-Stein was just scraping by in DC when a posting on Craigslist landed her, improbably, in the Oval Office as one of Barack Obama's stenographers. The ultimate DC outsider, she joined the elite team who accompanied the president wherever he went, recorder and mic in hand. On whirlwind trips across time zones, Beck forged friendships with a tight group of fellow travelers--young men and women who, like her, left their real lives behind to hop aboard Air Force One in service of the president. But as she learned the ropes of protocol, Beck became romantically entangled with a consummate DC insider, and suddenly, the political became all too personal. Set against the backdrop of a White House full of glamour, drama, and intrigue, this is the story of a young woman making unlikely friendships, getting her heart broken, learning what truly matters, and discovering her voice in the process.
This is the first non-fiction book that she has read for quite some time, and she's really enjoying it so far.

P.S. Have a great 4th of July and for those of you who have dogs, make sure you give them some extra love and attention if they are like me and are scared of fireworks.
