Marvelous Monday with Lexi!

Hello, humans! I'm having a marvelous Monday and I hope you are too. I apologize for not sharing a post last week, but Mommy had a couple of appointments on Monday and they were timed in such a way that made it impossible to post last week.

Mommy was also a little shaky last weekend because we had a run-in with a dog, we'll call him "Vic" for "vicious," where we live. Vic is a Pomeranian, I think he has some Chow in him, who barks, growls, and lunges at us whenever he sees us. On Sunday morning, Mommy saw Vic and the gal who walks him sometimes (not his owner) out in the front public area. Out of courtesy and to avoid a hassle, Mommy decided to take me to the back, gated public area where dogs are allowed to be off-leash. We were walking around when we saw Vic and his caregiver walk up to the area. Even though Mommy assumed that the caregiver would see us and take Vic back to the front area, she picked me up.

Vic and the caregiver entered the area anyway and Mommy decided to take me to the front public area, so she started walking towards the gate. Apparently, Vic's caregiver dropped his leash so when he saw us, he started acting aggressively and blocked the path towards the gate to exit. Mommy calmly stepped around him and Vic jumped up to try to bite me. Mommy shielded me, looked at him and forcefully said, "Stay down." He did; however, when she turned to proceed to the gate with me, he jumped on her leg and tried to climb up her leg to bite me. Finally, the caregiver intervened and grabbed his leash so that we could beat a hasty retreat.

Mommy was scared when Vic tried to attack me, and she had a panic attack. She froze but she still managed to protect me. To make matters worse, some people implied that Mommy wasn't protecting me because she didn't kick or hit Vic to keep him away, and she started second-guessing herself. I will point out that Mommy apparently protected me because I didn't get bit and if she had felt that physical violence was necessary to defend me, she would have used it. Mommy is upset because she has gone out of her away to avoid Vic and she feels that since he is the aggressive one, his caregiver and owner need to take steps to ensure the safety of the other residents and their dogs. Instead, Vic's caregiver and his owner insist that all of the other pet guardians and pets go out of our way to avoid them; however, even though Vic is the aggressor, they won't extend the same courtesy to us.

What really irks Mommy is that one of the residents has a pit bull service dog that hasn't acted aggressively; however, she is required to wear a muzzle while Vic isn't required to. Also, Vic's owner is aware of what happened last weekend but she hasn't even bothered to apologize or discuss the situation with Mommy.

So... Yeah... Mommy had a rough weekend last week.

As for me, I'm doing well physically and emotionally. I was reserving judgment on Vic before the attack; however, I dislike him and want to kick his butt every time I see him. However, since doing this would worry Mommy, I'll just take a nap instead.
