Marvelous Monday with Lexi: July 29th Edition!

Hello, humans! What do you think of my haircut? Anyway... Another Monday is upon us again and I hope it turns out to be a marvelous Monday for you.

Did you know that July is also considered "National Picnic Month?" I don't know why because it's so hot and there are TONS of bugs flying around to sting or bite you.

Lexi's Vet Appointment

Mommy took me to the vet last week to have the rest of the tests available on this year's Petly plan run and to have the vet check what we have been told by several vets are fat tumors under my right front leg. The vet performed a fine needle biopsy on the growths and a couple of them have abnormal cells. We don't know what this means just yet and it will be later this week or early next week before we receive the results from a pathologist. From the way the vet was talking, she seems to think that the growths are malignant. Mommy is handling the news as best she can, but she's struggling a bit. The vet told her to "hope for the best," but the vet didn't bother to mention any other possibilities.

It's funny how adversity forces humans to show their true colors. The vet I saw several times at this practice, Dr. S, is no longer there and my last couple of visits have been with a different vet who is a big fat know-it-all; she won't listen when Mommy tells her something about me, and she won't take the time to explain things to Mommy. Uncle Mike isn't happy with her because he feels this whole thing should've been handled with a bit more sensitivity and patience than it was. To make matters worse, the receptionist has been quite snippy with Mommy, and Mommy and Uncle Mike have decided that come September, we will try a vet that has a care plan similar to the Petly plan, accepts Care Credit, and has been recommended by Mike's friend and a couple of tenants in the complex. Since the people who recommended this vet clinic are on SSI or SSDI, the clinic is used to dealing with people who are on fixed incomes.

Mommy's New Side Hustle

Mommy signed up with this company called Intellifluence (I receive $5 if you follow this link and sign up). Essentially, the company connects brands to influencers who promote their products on social media, usually through reviews. Many of the opportunities Mommy is interested in are non-cash; she receives the product for free and then writes an unbiased review. In other words, this side hustle is an extension of what Mommy does already.

Mommy has pitched to several brands regarding their opportunities with little success. Most of them seem more interested in her reviewer ranking on Amazon than anything else. She is amused by this because people who are the top 100, 250, or 500 reviewers on Amazon will tell you that the competition is pretty cut-throat, and many report other reviewers who are getting close to taking their spots. We won't even discuss how some of these reviewers come across as pretentious a$$hats in their reviews and that statistically, influencing is about engagement and pretentious a$$hats aren't very approachable.

Anyway... There is a company who took a chance on Mommy and accepted her pitch, SmartSign. SmartSign creates a variety of customized interior and exterior signs for the home and office. The process is pretty cool; Mommy created a design, uploaded it, approved the proof, and the sign is now on its way. She was hoping that she'd receive it by today to share it with you, but it should be here on Wednesday. She's looking forward to receiving it and can't wait to share her thoughts about it with you.

Here's the design she uploaded:
