Review Policy

Updated: March 17, 2019

We are accepting review requests from authors we have worked with in the past and authors who have met Charity at book conventions.

We are not accepting review requests from new authors unless they have been referred to us by an author we have worked with before.

If you are a new author and were directed here by a book blog directory site, please advise the directory site's owner that we are not accepting review requests. We have contacted the owners of the sites and requested to be removed; however, some of these sites have not honored our request.

Subject Matters

We review a variety of genres for any age group; however, we will not consider books containing the following subject matters:
  • Torture or mutilation of humans or animals
  • Sexual abuse (rape, molestation, pedophilia)
  • Erotica
  • Graphic sexual content
  • Domestic abuse (including physical, psychological, emotional, or economic)
  • Devotional material
  • Child abuse (including physical, psychological, or emotional)
If a book containing the above content is submitted for review, we will mark it as "Did Not Finish" and it will not be reviewed.

By submitting a review request, you are agreeing to the terms of this policy as well as the additional Terms of Service. If you have any questions regarding the content of your book, or the Terms of Service, please contact us.

Promotional Posts

Before 2018, we offered to feature books by authors whose books we could not review due to time constraints. This policy has changed and On My Kindle Book Reviews will no longer participate in cover reveals, release blitzes, or other promotional tours if we have not received a copy of the book to read and review. We will not promote books containing the subject matters listed shown in the Subject Matters section.

Re-Reading Books

On My Kindle will not re-read books or change our reviews unless the plot has been significantly changed. Please keep in mind that by asking us to read the new edition, you run the risk that our opinion of the changes made will not be favorable, which could result in a lower star-rating on merchants' websites.

Changing or Deleting Reviews

Once a review is posted, On My Kindle will not change it on the blog or merchants' websites unless:
  • It is a new edition and we've agreed to re-read it.
  • We have inadvertently included spoilers.
  • You have demonstrated to us that the review is unfair.
We have the right to delete reviews on the blog and any reviews posted on merchants' websites under the name "Charity Rowell" or "On My Kindle Book Reviews." Removing reviews from merchants' websites is not something we normally do; however, we reserve the right to do so under extenuating circumstances at our discretion.
